D-Day 75th Anniversary: Pegasus Bridge – The Longest Day (1962)

Once there was a reasonable upload of The Longest Day on You Tube today there appear to be none. Frankly given this was a 1962 film, this is ridiculous and is primarily due I suspect to US copyright laws

However, here are a few of my favorite clips – this sequence concerns the vitally important capture of Pegasus Bridge

I think this sequence resonates, because my parents took my brother and I to see this movie in Leicester Square and we had a programme. In it Richard Todd recounted how Major Todd had visited the film set and allowed Todd to wear a ring he had worn during the action. For some reason that paragraph in a promotional programme has stayed with me through the decades.
