Oxford Union: This House Believes That We Are All Feminists – #5/8 – Camila Batmanghelidjh – For

17/08/2019

Camila Batmanghelidjh highlights that she runs a large children’s charity employing 600 staff and 1000’s of volunteers helping over 36,000 children. She talks about how the girls in some of her programs would react to the motion. She says they have to do a great deal of surviving, protecting themselves against this notion that their vaginas should be available for men all the time. She has dealt with girls who have been abused from a very young age and forced into prostitution and its sad that this is the only way they can choose to express their femininity. Camila highlights that the essentials of feminism lies in both genders and is expressed by the ability to care, love and show compassion for one another. She conclude by saying that the ability to love makes us all feminists in a Jungian psychosocial sense.
