Food, Glorious Food: Scouse – Liverpool’s signature dish

One thing you must do if you ever go to Liverpool is try a bowl of Scouse. This comforting stew of lamb or beef with potatoes and carrots is what gave Scousers their name. They stole it from the Lobskaus that was brought over by Norwegian sailors. Scouse is incredibly easy to make and you can do it in a pot on your stovetop, or a pressure cooker, or in a slow cooker / crockpot. It’s a perfect stew to have on a cold winter day, and it’s usually served with pickled red cabbage or beetroot.
