BBC News: UK gov Coronavirus update: “UK will do well to keep deaths under 20,000” – health official – 27th March


NHS England medical director Prof Stephen Powis says if the death toll in the UK is kept below 20,000, “we will have done very well”. It was “possible to get on top of this virus”, he added.

The comment came as Business Secretary Alok Sharma gave the UK government’s daily Coronavirus briefing Across the UK, 1,019 people have now died
