Easter Monday Movie – Extra: A Window in London (1939) – Michael Redgrave, Sally Gray – LIMITED TIME

Here is a great melodrama from 1939, starring Michael Redgrave as a construction worker who gets drawn into the lives of a struggling magician and his wife, when he believes that he witnesses a murder being committed when travelling to work. I first saw this film on the Anglia region of the ITV network when I was at university in the early 1970s, and I was delighted when I obtained this very early VHS copy from the ATV region in 1980. The film was subsequently shown by C4 in the 1990s, but since then I don’t think it has been shown on UK tv, and it has not been released in any format to purchase. The film includes some interesting location footage of London just before the outbreak of world war 2, and the excellent direction from Herbert Mason makes this a riveting view. Also known as ‘Lady in danger’, the film was trimmed down to about 59 minutes for its US release, but this is the full UK release print.

“A Window in London” will remain available for about a week, so please view soon if you would like to see it. I hope everyone is continuing to keep well, the next film will be uploaded on Tuesday 14th April.
