British B Movies – Truly, Madly, Cheaply


Matthew Sweet takes a look at British B Movies. From Sir John Mills on the wrong end of a good whipping in The Lash, through to the giant gorilla Konga running amok in Croydon, arguing that the low budgets of these films, unlike the A film, ensured they often portrayed Britain as it really was. Includes interviews with many of the people behind the films including: Sir John Mortimer; The Devil Girl from Mars, Patricia Laffan; and Michael Winner, who recalls working with the producer Edwin J Fancey
