May 01,2020

Congressman Ted Lieu of California played a leading role in the House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearings and so he remembers when witnesses warned that a president who would shake-down our allies for political reasons would do the same with U.S. governors and mayors during a domestic U.S. crisis. We have in this special episode of DSR a candid, wide-ranging conversation with the Congressman, who has emerged as one of the Democratic Party’s most respected voices. He covers just how long he thought it took the new White House Press Secretary to break her promise never to lie to the press or the public (minutes), what he thought of the president’s assertion that our mortality number were “very strong” (not much), and what he thought would be necessary to fully recover from this unprecedented crisis and its economic aftershocks.
