The Real Marigold Hotel


The Real Marigold Hotel (known in Australia as The Indian Dream Hotel) is a British travel documentary series created by Twofour productions, directed by Aparna Sanyal and broadcast on BBC One and BBC Two. The show, whose name is based on the film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel follows famous elderly celebrities as they travel around India and experience the culture. In 2017, the show was nominated for a BAFTA in the category of Best Reality and Constructed Factual.

Part 1: A group of celebrities visit India to explore the idea of retiring there. The party arrive in Jaipur and are initially unsettled by the heat and seething streets.

Part 2: Celebrities test whether retirement in India is better than in the UK. The group start to settle into normal life in India and take a 150-mile trip to the Taj Mahal.

Part 3: With one week left of their Indian adventure, what conclusions will the celebrities reach about the realities of retiring to the other side of the world?
