Jacinda Ardern ‘New Zealand’s tiresomely woke Prime Minister’

So writes Con Coughlin, Defence Editor and Chief Foreign Affairs correspondent of the UK Daily Telegraph .

He devotes his column to our relationship with China, the Five Eyes relationship and how NZ is seen as a weak sister by other members.

He further describes Ardern’s positioning re China as naive.

It will be interesting to see how Ardern responds, especially as Audrey Young at NZ Herald has built an article around Coughln’s piece and drawn on other less than flattering commentary as well.

I doubt that China’s praise of Mahuta’s taniwha and dragons speech, which was mediocre at best, has gone down well in London,Canberra and Washington.

Coughlin takes a swipe at Ardern’s posturing on human rights given her regime’s failure to join international criticism of China over the Uighur.

I think it would be fair to say that Coughlin is not a member of the Ardern Adulation Society.
