BBC Journalism

Just what the BBC doesn’t need right now. A BBC journalist reveals their personal viewpoint on Gaza. Not the wisest course of action at this time, given the furore over Bashir and claims of bias.

Now, I fully accept the reporter is entitled to their personal opinions and to express them, but the way this was couched seems calculated to raise intemperate reactions on both sides of the argument.

The question is whether or not personal bias is reflected in this person’s journalistic work? Did these remarks transgress the BBC Code of Conduct? That of course presupposes the BBC has such a code? Does the person concerned have a record of such conduct?

Is the individual antisemitic?

Is the individual a political activist?

Did they have family in Gaza?
