Telegraph: Prince Andrew will need a miracle to come back to public life – even if his name is cleared

Frankly who cares

September 25,2021

Prince Andrew is now facing a three-week deadline to a decade-long saga. Lawyers representing the Duke’s long time accuser, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, lodged a document with the New York court confirming that it had on Monday delivered the claim to his American counsel, Andrew Brettler, by both email and FedEx. Prince Andrew now will have 21 days to file a response or risk a judgment by default. But according to The Telegraph’s Associate Editor Camilla Tominey, even being legally cleared of any wrongdoing might not be enough to rehabilitate the Duke of York. “Regardless of any legal outcome, the problem for the Duke of York is that he’s been found guilty in the court of public opinion”, Camilla said, “the stench of that still lingers”. In the latest episode of Royal Insight, Camilla Tominey looks into how the Duke is currently perceived by the public and why it would be so difficult, in the current climate, to reverse his reputation and bring him back to public life.
