Stupid Comments by NZ MPs: #16 – Clearly economic literacy is lacking in the Greens, especially Golriz Ghahraman
Most economists and others understand that increasing productivity is good. Indeed, a major issue with the NZ economy is that despite the long hours many work productivity is low. If we are to have a strong economy, thus enabling, if desired, an improved welfare system we need a major improvement in productivity. Failure to achieve such an improvement means either we live beyond our means, high taxation and decline or we remain relatively poor in a low wage economy. Educational improvement is a major element in achieving a long term productivity gain.
I fail to understand how seeking to improve productivity, not hours worked, is abusive. Economic ignorance such as that shown by the Greens illustrates just how far we have to go.

How could someone who aspires to help run the country know so little about economics?
