With 5 renditions of tunes selected from the recording of Bessie Smith and Clara Smith, we give an introduction to these 2 queens of 1920’s blues and some of the the musicians that accompany them. We attempt to share some history and context for the powerful voices and stylings that inspire us today. By weaving together our research within a mini concert of songs, we hope to impart our deep respect for the music and the people who created it.
