Trotter severely criticised

Last Sunday in the Sunday Star Times, Chris Trotter had filed another of his bile filled columns, venting from his apparent inability to cope with the Labour loss of the election. The column focused on a condemning the Maori Party and Tariana Turia in particular for having the gall to do other than slavishly kow-tow to Labour. It was colonial paternalism writ large as Trotter scorned Mrs Turia and patronised Maori.

Not surprisingly the Letters to the Editor page at this weeks SST has a number of letters disagreeing with Trotter.

This one is from the Co-vice President of the Maori Party:-

Mr Hingston is not impressed by Mr Trotter. Trotter could have made his points without indulging in the vituperative venom of his column last week.

Madeleine – you clearly have not been reading Trotter’s writings carefully.

He is a creature of the left. He preaches class warfare and the politics of jealously.

I love the work Trotter is doing for the right – I hope he keeps churning out those columns.

So Trotter is a racist. Big deal.

Now let’s see if the MSM first him from all commentary jobs,
or if the race retaliations commissioner get’s him jailed.

A few weeks ago the answer would have been “no f**king way”
but now, perhaps, things will be different.

Racists and lefties like Trotter have no place at all in NZ’s political discourse. None at all.

As a middle class, European, National voting person, I was appalled at Trotter’s vehement attack on Tariana Turia. I have a huge amount of respect for the Maori party and their positive vision for the future. I hope they have a great future in NZ politics.
