Barack Obama wins Nobel Peace Prize

09/10/2009

Adam is speechless, what on earth possessed the Nobel Committe to give Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize. The man may accomplish much in the future so far all we have had is rhetoric and little demonstration of leadership.

When Adam saw this headline he thought it must be April 1.

By this decision the Nobel Peace Prize has in Adam’s opinion been demeaned.

This quote would seem to exemplify their peculiar thought processes:-

“Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world’s attention and given its people hope for a better future,” the committee said. “His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world’s population.”

Where is there any evidence that this is the case. Adam sincerely doubts that this is the case, rather he represents the woolly thinking of a group of liberal Scandinavians, who may well come to look back on the award as a symbol of collective insanity.

This after all is a man who is protectionist, cannot sell his policies, is in thrall to his party, rather than them in thrall to him and seems to lack decision making capability.

The Israelis and the Arabs do not appear to be listening, the Iranians are Adam suspects thumbing their noses at him and the Russian bear is biding its time.

This will be the same Nobel Peace Prize that was once awarded to Yasser Arafat? Clearly, Mr. Obama would be just as suitable as Mr. Arafat, now wouldn’t he?

And if you think I am being too harsh on Mr. Obama, consider that Mr. Al “Where’s my ice-cap?” Gore won the silly thing in 2007….
