The Victoria Cross is the highest honor that can be bestowed on a soldier in the British Armed Forces. It is awarded for valor “in the presence of the enemy.” On D-Day, only one man was a recipient of this high honor: CSM Stanley Hollis. We’re at Gold Beach with Paul Woodadge of @WW2TV to tell the story of this incredibly brave man who didn’t exactly fit the mold of what you might envision for a Victoria Cross recipient, but whose valor was unmatched on D-Day.
